Dear Baby G,
I wish I could say this week has gone fast, but unfortunately, it hasn't! I suppose not being able to do anything at all would cause that! We are blessed with some wonderful people in our lives that are taking care of every need we could possibly have.
Because I have been in bed since Monday when we got home from Oklahoma City, there is not much to share. We go back to the doctor on Monday. He will do another ultrasound to check everything. Although I know he said there is no possible way for this to "fix" itself, I am praying and hoping that somehow that may have happened!
You weighed one pound, two ounces on Monday and your heartbeat was 161. Everything was perfect with you! You are still measuring a little over a week ahead, but that's okay too. That may help us in the long run if we end up having to deliver early. You were still a boy and this time you were showing us that fact very clearly. There is no doubting what little parts you have!
We are taking this day by day, because really, each day is important now. We are anxious for our appointment on Monday, and me probably more so than anyone. I will actually get to leave the house then, even though it will just be straight there and straight back.
Love,
Mommy
How your baby's growing:
At 11 inches (the length of a spaghetti squash) and almost 1 pound, your baby is starting to look like a miniature newborn. His lips, eyelids, and eyebrows are becoming more distinct, and he's even developing tiny tooth buds beneath his gums. His eyes have formed, but his irises (the colored part of the eye) still lack pigment. If you could see inside your womb, you'd be able to spot the fine hair (lanugo) that covers his body and the deep wrinkles on his skin, which he'll sport until he adds a padding of fat to fill them in. Inside his belly, his pancreas — essential for the production of some important hormones — is developing steadily.
